description .

Lifetime (protection period) of CREPEX® coating
The CREPEX® passivating and stabilizing coating provides protection for 15 years or more. It has been tested in practice and the structure has been free of signs of corrosion for 30 years.

This is a water-based protective coating that prevents the formation of corrosion based on a chemical reaction that takes place under the coating film, creating an anti-corrosive pigment firmly anchored in the substrate (iron, steel, zinc, copper, etc.). This combination creates a compact material that provides protection against rust formation, stabilizes the ongoing corrosion process and prevents its further spread over a mechanically damaged surface.

Treatment of already corroded materials
Just as CREPEX® can be used on new, clean surfaces (iron, steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, bronze, etc.), it can also be applied to surfaces that are already corroded, including Atmofix and Cor-Ten patinating steels.

Certified product
The CREPEX® coating system was developed by the research institute SYNPO, a. s., has been properly tested for environmental levels of corrosive aggressiveness C3 and C4. In the tests, it met selected regulatory requirements after 480, 720 and 736 hours of exposure in neutral salt fog, which corresponds to a coating service life of 15 years or more.

Coating coverage
Depending on the application method, one liter of coating covers an area of 8–12 m². The required coating thickness to ensure proper chemical reaction and subsequent protection is 10–40 µm, which is 10x less than other commonly used paints. Depending on the application method, the thickness of the coating may vary.

Drying time
At the recommended temperature above +5 °C, the recommended drying time is 24 hours.
At higher summer outside temperatures or using a conventional dryer in paint shops, this drying time can be shortened to 20–40 minutes (tested on high-voltage transmission poles).

Coating layer thickness after application
Depending on how CREPEX® is applied, a film of 10–40 µm thick is created on the surface, which molecularly merges with the surface when drying and is subsequently closed with a top coat according to the individual requirements and needs of the client.
The resulting film can therefore be much thinner and its weight lower, which brings a number of advantages: the total consumption of coating materials is reduced, and the structures themselves to which the coating is applied are not as loaded and are therefore more statically stable.
To achieve a thicker paint film (with regard to current applicable standards), CREPEX® can be applied repeatedly to the desired thickness and then sealed with a top coat according to your individual requirements. The protection time against the formation and spread of corrosion is thus increased “multiplied”.

Resistance to mechanical damage
The excess of active ingredients contained in the paint prevents the formation and spread of corrosion under the surface of the topcoat or other protection from the point of damage. The point of damage itself can simply be treated again with CREPEX® and the required final treatment.
A partially mechanically damaged surface can, to a certain extent, treat its damage itself, thanks to the larger amount of active ingredients that our anti-corrosion CREPEX® coating contains.
